My Purpose


Blog Intro


I started this blog series to keep it separate from our personal blog since it has a different goal than sharing family updates. 


My purpose in this blog series is to seek to find truth and to look at the world in new ways to try to gain perspective. Also to discuss where I believe we’re at (in the scriptural prophesies) and talk about resources to know how to process emotions and not have fear. I recommend reading with an open mind and being willing to verify if what I’m saying is true or not. I also recommend praying for help to know what is true. 


Some of this information is uncomfortable and takes a while to digest. This is related to signs that demonstrate where our world is heading. My goal is to help you develop greater faith that the future will be wonderful. The future is as bright as your faith! These resources can save you a lot of time and help you feel more secure. 


I also write this blog to get attention and become really popular. Actually not at all. In fact, I know these aren’t popular topics. However, these words are like a fire burning in my bones and I have to get them out to help as many people as possible (Jeremiah 20:8-9 https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/jer/20?lang=eng). Because as you will see, we will all need a lot of help. So one of my motives is a desire to bless and make life easier and better for you. I am focusing on how it can help others. I also hope that by writing this I can get if off my chest and not feel the need to bring it up as much.


Although I will present evidence for my conclusions based on world events, news, scriptures and teachings of modern day prophets and apostles, the interpretation of these is not necessarily reflective of the church’s stance. I defer to church leaders and if there is any contradiction, then know that they are right and I am wrong. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and sustain the leadership of the church fully. I have not received any instruction from church leaders to write these things, but they are just the things of my soul. These things are ones that I feel God is directing me to say.


One reason I feel prompted to write these things is that in my desire to develop spiritually and temporally I really wanted buddies to talk with this about. However a lot of people have told me they don’t really think about them because there’s nothing they can do. However, as I have studied it, I have realized there are a lot of things we can and should do. Some of those things are things that Christ himself commanded us to do. It is my desire to follow Him. I think these things may help you save time and point you to good resources. All praise and glory be to Christ who is the the way, the truth and the life.

Fear Not

  Fear Not I have been pondering on the importance of casting out all fear. The scriptures tell us over and over to fear not. I think there is a lot of great work on overcoming fear in psychology, self help books, etc. A personal improvement book that helped me a lot in the early days of my career talked a lot about not letting fear stop us and has a ton of inspiring examples (Success Principles by Jack Canfield). But lately, I started to wonder why the scriptures teach us so often to fear not. D&C 67:10 says “And again, verily I say unto you that it is your privilege, and a promise I give unto you … that inasmuch as you strip yourselves from jealousies and fears, and humble yourselves before me, for ye are not sufficiently humble, the veil shall be rent and you shall see me and know that I am.” I used to think the scriptures that said to fear not were just calming words. Football, Sports, Politics

Fandom Versus Discipleship:  Zion Won’t be Redeemed on the Football Field I loved football as a kid. I remember listening to NFL games on my old handheld radio as a young kid since we didn’t have cable. I was a 49ers fan because Steve Young had played at BYU when my dad was there at college. I had a sweet 49ers hat that had cool lightning bolts all over it. I’m sure it was super tacky, but I loved it. I also got to go to a few live Seahawks games once I moved to Washington and I rooted for them too. Those were amazing experiences.  Later in high school I got too busy to follow football and didn’t care so much. But when I got to BYU and got to go to some live games, some of that love of the sport started coming back.
